We are a dynamic, energetic & dedicated firm of landscape architects committed to the integration of sustainable design to deliver amazing places. We have worked on some of the highest profile squares, streetscapes & campus renaissance projects in the country.

Rob founded B|D landscape architects in 2008 having worked in London, Chicago, Bristol & Bath as a project landscape architect on many prestigious and award winning schemes.

Through a broad and diverse background he has worked on a range of internationally acclaimed, innovative and award-winning projects at Grant Assocates in Bath, Novell Tullett in Bristol, Townshend Landscape Architects in London and Hitchcock Design Group in Chicago.

As the founder and director of B|D, Rob’s interest lies in innovative contemporary design that can be seen evolve from sketches on the drawing board through the public engagement, planning and construction processes to finished projects on site enjoyed by the public that leave a sustainable legacy for the future.

Lindsay Beswick

Creative Director

BA (Hons) Landscape Architecture Dip LA (with distinction) CMLI

Lindsay joined B|D landscape architects in 2010 having worked in London, Chicago, and Bath as a project landscape architect on many prestigious and award winning schemes. Holly Birtles

Associate Landscape Architect

BA (Hons) Fine Art Leeds Metropolitan University
PG Diploma Landscape Architecture University of Gloucestershire CMLI

Holly joined B|D after four years’ experience working in London on a wide variety of projects including large scale residential master planning, community regeneration schemes, civic and public spaces, Hospitals, Parks, Playgrounds and Schools from initial concept through to technical delivery.

Holly has been involved on a number of innovative projects at B|D including HAB’s largest residential development ‘Lovedon Fields’ in Kingsworthy, and the high quality residential scheme at Tidal Basin with innovative blue roof attenuation.

She has added to her previous school experience with six new schools as part of the Southwark school expansion programme, along with Tiger Way, a mixed use residential and primary school development adjacent to Hackney Downs.

Holly became a Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute and was promoted to Associate in 2015.

Jack Dilworth

Senior Landscape Architect

Jack joined B|D after six years working in London and the south east where he gained valuable experience working on predominantly London based and overseas projects. Jack has led and supported a wide range of projects including urban public realm regeneration schemes, civic squares, transport interchanges, high density mixed use residential schemes, playgrounds, schools, university grounds, resort master planning, business parks and hotels. Jack is involved in all stages of project delivery from initial concept work through planning to completion on site.

Jack converted from a scientific background bringing with him a rigorous approach to the more technical aspects of project delivery while retaining a passion for communicating design and public engagement. He has a particular interest in innovative and creative solutions to confined sites where space is limited and sustainable design must work hard to achieve a successful outcome.

Helen Kirk

Senior Landscape Architect

BA Landscape Architecture (first class) CMLI

Helen joined B|D landscape architects in April 2011 following completion of her first class honours degree at the University of Gloucestershire.

Helen has built up great experience during her 5 years at B|D working on a range of projects including schools, university campuses, hotels and high quality public realm projects including a number of phases of the King’s Cross Masterplan – including the ground-breaking Pond Club, House of Illustration and Tapper Walk.

In 2013 Helen represented the company on a study trip to Germany to learn more about natural play equipment and experience some high quality playscapes.

In 2015 Helen was promoted to Senior Landscape Architect and in 2016 she passed her professional practice exam to become a Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute.

She is particularly interested in the technical side of design work, in particular finding solutions to achieve high quality detailing – her rigour and attention to detail helped B|D win a 2014 Landscape Institute Award for the London South Bank University Public Realm.

Emma Gibson

Emma is a talented and enthusiastic landscape architecture graduate, joining B|D landscape architects in August 2013 after completing her undergraduate at The University of Sheffield, then returning to the company after gaining a distinction in her Masters in 2015.

Emma enjoys bringing together the technical elements of a design and putting her creative skills to use as part of the team at B|D. Her interests lie in the detailed design of public realm and educational schemes; combing functionality, practicality and flair to create distinctive landscapes to be cherished by users for years to come.

She is excited to see the implementation of projects to which she has contributed and has a desire to further establish herself as a landscape architect and grow with B|D.

Ella Scott

Landscape Architect

BSc Landscape Architecture and Ecology University of Sheffield

After graduating from The University of Sheffield with an undergraduate degree in Landscape Architecture and Ecology Ella has joined B|D to complete her year in practice.

Specialising in Ecology at University has given Ella an in-depth look at how to bring together the natural and built landscapes, without compromising on the quality of the built spaces, or the ecological assets of a site. Focusing many of her studies on achieving maximum biodiversity in places within urban areas.

She is looking forward to learning about the process of design implementation at a company where her creative approach will be encouraged and so far has worked on a range of projects of varying scales, from residential schemes to retail parks.­

Chris Richardson

Catrin Menzies

Landscape Architect

BA Geography Swansea University

Catrin joined B|D following her conversion year to Landscape Architecture at the University of Gloucestershire and will complete her Masters at Birmingham City University. A degree in Geography has provided an understanding on global environmental and social issues which Catrin feels has assisted her when analysing and designing on a range of projects.

Catrin has a particular interest in how areas rich in history and culture can evolve to meet the needs of today while retaining and enhancing the existing landscape character through sensitive and innovative design.

She is eager to contribute to current projects and looks forward to developing further as a Landscape Architect at B|D.
