Napier Primary School, Education

The improvements to Napier Community Primary School have been facilitated by the decant of the Robert Napier sixth form building adjacent to the Primary school which has provided opportunity to reconfigure and refurbish the school teaching and learning encironment to incorporate the Robert Napier Building.

The key objectives of the project are to create a new visitor and staff entrance linked into the reused sixth form building which will create a strong identity for the school and community.

B|D landscape architects, working with Hawkins\Brown and the design team are looking to enhance the external learning and play provision with a new multi use games area, enhancements to the Key Stage 01 & 02 playgrounds making the most of the level changes across the site for definition of space.

Dynamic external spaces include a sunken courtyard with supersized shotblasted concrete graphic with tensile canopy, an external dining area with grove of multistem trees for shelter and shade, an adventure play mound that reuses demolition material and a linear play wall that separates the staff external dining terrace and key stage 01 play area beneath.
