Nightingale School, Featured

Nightingale School is part of the Tiger Way project that we designed from concept in 2014 delivering through to completion in 2019 for the London Borough of Hackney with McLaren Construction.

The project delivers a new primary school and nursery, providing much needed school spaces for the Borough of Hackney and is funded through the sale of 89 high quality private sale residential apartments co-located on the same site.

The landscape challenge was to create excellent school grounds for learning outside the classroom on a constrained site – a total of eleven outdoor spaces spread across a series of ground level and raised terraces create an innovative and high quality learning environment.

These play decks include a wide variety of spaces for learning outside the classroom with wildflower biodiverse living roofs, bee keeping area, active play, MUGA, , productive ‘grow your own’ beds and sensory water play to the early years nursery & reception play space.

Tiger Way achieved BREEAM Outstanding at design stage and in 2018 won a BREEAM award for the best Public project at design stage.
